Story

Jay is the Director of Vaai Ltd, a qualified Building Science Masters graduate from Victoria University, and a trade-qualified builder. From humble beginnings growing up in Siusega, Samoa to now holding over a decade of experience in commercial and heavy civil construction working on some of NZs largest projects. He has worked for and with Tier 1 contractors, progressing from Apprentice Carpenter through to Junior Site Manager and Digital Engineering Manager.

Jay combines advanced CAD/BIM skills with extensive practical expertise, ensuring that every project Vaai Ltd undertakes is both visually striking and strategically designed for functionality. He is the 2014 NZIOB Helen Tippett Supreme award and Te Ropu Awhina Scholarship recipient for his work on 4D Augmented Reality BIM.

As a Carpenter he has been part of the construction team on The Peep house by Fabric Architecture, which won the Canterbury Regional Award for a New Home and the Regional ADNZ Resene Kaitiakitanga Award.
