Story

Jay is the Director of Vaai Ltd, a Licensed Residential Carpenter and Masters Graduate of Building Science (Project Management) from Victoria University of Wellington.

From humble beginnings growing up in Siusega, Samoa to now holding over a decade of experience in residential, commercial and heavy civil construction working on some of NZs largest projects. He has worked with across multiple tiers of businesses over the span of 15 years, progressing as a Laborer, Apprentice through to Junior Site Manager and Engineering Manager.

Jay combines over a decades worth of 3D CAD/BIM skills with extensive practical construction expertise ensuring that every project Vaai Ltd undertakes is strategically designed for functionality, and understood digitally before any spade hits the ground.

Jay was the 2014 NZIOB Helen Tippett Supreme award and Te Ropu Awhina Scholarship recipient for his published work on 4D Augmented Reality BIM.

As a Carpenter he has worked on iconic homes such as The Peep house in Christchurch, which won the Canterbury Regional Award for a New Home and the Regional ADNZ Resene Award.
